When Nicola King suffered from chronic post-nasal drip her GP diagnosed allergic rhinitis and prescribed cortisone nasal spray and anti-histamines. This debilitating condition caused terrible nausea and meant she was often off work.
It was while watching Oprah one day that Nicola discovered a product called the neti pot. She rushed off to her local pharmacy (and many others in the following months) but was disappointed to find it was not available in South Africa. Finally, in 2008, she found one.
While her post-nasal drip cleared completely, refills for the product, imported from the USA, were often hard to find. Nicola was convinced she could produce her own product in South Africa, at a better price and supporting local suppliers. She was right.
What is a Nosefree Netipot?
The best way to describe it is that it looks a little like Aladdin’s lamp. Of course, there’s no genie inside waiting to grant three wishes. However, it will grant one - relieving nasal irritation. Benefits include:
- Eases blocked or runny noses, sneezing and post-nasal drip
- Clears nasal passages of undesirables, e.g. dust or pollen
- Improves breathing so you can wake up and smell the roses
- May reduce the need for nasal sprays or other medication
- Soothing, natural and eco-friendly
- Feel the effects immediately… instant gratification
How does it work?
You mix a saline powder with warm water in the neti pot, and then pour the solution through your nasal passages to clear them. This is referred to as nasal irrigation. And while it does require a little patience at first, once you have the hang of it the benefits far outweigh the initial effort.
