Treasure the Karoo Action Group
Walk your love of the land
By:

Have you often spent time wondering how you can contribute to the campaign to stop shale gas mining (fracking) in the Karoo?

What about taking on the breathtaking open space of the Karoo and walking your love for land? Lovers of this beautiful part of our country are uniting to do a walk in the proposed Karoo fracking area to raise money for the work of the Treasure of the Karoo Action Group (TKAG). As distances are vast in South Africa they are starting with something small – one small step for a much greater impact for this worthy cause. They will undertake a walk from Graaff Reinet to Nieu Bethesda, a distance of 65 km that can be walked in three days, and they are inviting you to join.

You can get involved in two ways - You can join in the fellowship of walking with the group and share the experience of the Karoo sand under your feet and the sun on your back. From 30 June to 4 July the group will be walking 15-28 km per day, stay over at local farmers and share in the community of a single cause.

If your time is limited however, you can still contribute towards this project by answering the call for sponsorship. Big or small, any donation will help to support the work of the Treasure of the Karoo Action Group in their campaign to stop shale gas mining in South Africa. All money raised will go directly into the TKAG account and donations to TKAG entitle you to a Section 18A Certificate which you may submit with tax returns to SARS.
