eBay develops reusable box with a story
By:

The eBay Box, a durable cardboard box made from 100% recycled content, FSC-certified corrugated cardboard, is designed to withstand repeated use. Each box is printed with green information and tips, but there is also space for messages. Each time it is re-used the sender can write a personal message to the next person in the chain, giving the box a life of its own. The history of each box can also be tracked through a virtual community.

eBay calculates that if every box is re-used at least five times environmental savings would include 4 000 trees could be saved, 2.4 million gallons of water and enough energy to power 49 homes for a year. And when a box finally reaches the end of its shipping life, if not reused as, for example, storage, it is fully recyclable.

A winning idea indeed!
